  February 8th Manxman launched at Cammell Laird Shipyard in Birkenhead

 

  May 11th The ship arrives in Douglas for the first time  
     
  May 12th Trials held on the Firth of Clyde where he ship achieves 21.95 knots
 
  May 13th She returns to Birkenhead to be dry-docked for hull cleaning and final modifications
     
  May 14th The ship is handed over to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company
     
  May 20th Under the command of Captain P J Bridson, Manxman sails light ship bound for Douglas
     
  May 21st Manxman's maiden voyage to Liverpool at 08:30
     
  May 23rd The Manxman sails to Fleetwood for the first time
     
  May 30th Fisrt sailing to Ardrossan
     
  June 2nd Manxman calls at the Queen's pier Ramsey en Route to Belfast
     
  June 9th First call at Dublin
     
  July 5th First call at Llandudno
     
  July 9th It is reported that Manxman has made significant savings in fuel consumption over her older sisters for example saving between 2.24 and 3.33 tons per sailing to Liverpool !
